INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES

EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSINGS may be necessary due to inclement weather. Please plan where your child will go if there is an Emergency School Closing. In addition to closing school during inclement weather, two other options may be utilized which you need to be aware of and prepared for:

EMERGENCY DELAYED OPENING

In the event that weather conditions are anticipated to be hazardous only for a short time in the morning (i.e. ice) the district will announce on local radio stations (see below) a two hour delayed opening. Please be advised that an abbreviated hot and cold menu will be available to students. If a delayed opening occurs, school hours will be as follows:

Intermediate School	9:50 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
McKinley Avenue School	9:55 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
Ocean Acres/Oxycocus Schools	10:45 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
Primary Learning Center (PLC)	11:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

EMERGENCY EARLY DISMISSAL

In the event that weather conditions necessitate school closing early, an announcement will be made on the local radio stations (see below). An abbreviated hot and cold menu will be available to students. Students will be dismissed as follows:

Intermediate School	11:50 a.m. Dismissal
McKinley Avenue School	11:55 a.m. Dismissal
Ocean Acres & Oxycocus	12:45 p.m. Dismissal
Primary Leaning Center	1:00 p.m. Dismissal

Ocean Acres Elementary School	Grades 1 & 2: 12:45 p.m.	Preschool Handicapped: 12:45 p.m.
Oxycocus Elementary School	Grades 1 & 2: 12:45 p.m.	Preschool Handicapped: 12:45 p.m.
McKinley Avenue Elementary School	Grades 3 & 4: 11:55 a. m.	After School Program – Late Bus: None
Intermediate School	Grades 5 & 6: 11:50 a.m.	After School Program – Late Bus: None

NOTE: Please make all necessary arrangements for children in advance for any possible delayed opening, early dismissal or emergency school closing.

Also, updated information will be immediately posted on the home page of the district’s website (www.staffordschools.org) or you may call the district at 978-5700.

In addition, you may subscribe to “CENS”, our Community Email Notification System. To subscribe to receive any or all community notices, you need to go to our website at www.staffordschools.org, click on “Enroll in the Community Notification System” link and enroll. When you enroll, you will automatically receive all school related notices such as emergency closings, delayed openings, early dismissal, event reminders, etc, as well as all PTA notices. In addition, various non- profit organizations, such as recreational sport groups, scouting groups, religious groups, etc. will also be listed. You will be asked to select which groups you want notices from or if you want to receive all community notices. It is important to understand that any non-profit group will have the ability to post notices, but ultimately you will decide which notices you will receive.
